Most of us have been schooled to fear failure.
Having low grades means that we will not pass the exam, we will not go to college, we will not have a good job…
We will not get a good future.
But as scientists we fail for years in a row, inventing as many failed experiments as we can to test a theory. And we call it “results”.
As athletes we fail all the time, to become stronger, faster and more agile. And we call it “training.”
As martial artists we learn to fail in a controlled way, to avoid hurting our training partners. And we call it “keiko”.
That’s because “practicing” is not getting it right the first time.
It is making mistakes as many times as necessary to improve.
…

…
So now that we no longer have to worry about grades, we can pass the test by simply showing up. Ready to fail as much as we can.
We can even become happier, while doing it, which we’d surely call a huge success.
So true,
The path to enlightenment is paved with “mistakes”
It is my mistakes that has made me a more compasionte woodworker.
By the way…when i saw your work…i was excited.it has inspired me with the gift of creativity.
For that i thank you
Matthew.
